JANE PARK X DAVID KESSLER is a cross-disciplinary footwear collaboration with textiles designer, Jane Park. Jane and I used our complementary skills gained over our time studying at RISD and interest in footwear to explore the space between industrial manufacturing and craft. "001" is a 100% collaborative piece that allowed each of us to push our own craft while also being able to explore and practice in a new creative field. I gained valuable textile design experience working directly on an industrial jacquard and Jane learned about footwear anatomy and construction.
"001" features an in-house, woven jacquard upper made of mohair, copper and monofilament. The midsole is a fully hand stitched, vegetable tanned leather. The three-piece, custom outsole is made of polyurethane.
